How to Use Sound to Build a Personal and Professional Practice
Vibration, sound, and consciousness are primordial qualities of the universe that affect everything in existence. We are specifically designed and equipped to process them with our bodies, nervous systems and our consciousness. The human nervous system has evolved in relationship to and under the influence of sound and is therefore the primary target of all sound healing practices. Sound can activate the sympathetic nervous system when we need to be alerted to danger, or the parasympathetic nervous system when we need to relax, socialize, sleep, concentrate etc., and in general to promote growth and regeneration in the body. Our capacity for communication and social behavior is dependent on and made possible by neurological structures composed largely of cells that are designed to respond to sound at very specific frequencies. Sound combined with breathing exercises is the quickest and most effective way to achieve relaxation and facilitate one’s ability to enter a meditative state. Medical research has demonstrated that sound, meditation and relaxation have many beneficial effects on the brain and nervous system.
The objective of this workshop is to learn how to structure and conduct sound healing sessions with individuals using various protocols and instruments integrating breathing and meditative practices.
